Spending long days at home with boy brings all sorts of thoughts to my mind. There are days when I am reminded that I feel like a better mom when I am working. However, there are days like today, where I yearn to be able to spend every waking moment with my boy.
Today was perfect. Absolutely perfect.
We made pancakes for breakfast, watched 101 Dalmatians, practiced words and read books, drank chocolate milk after taking antibiotics, went up and down the stairs more times than I care to count to do laundry, sorted through 12-18 month clothes to put away, went to target, hung up 2T clothes, vacuumed, made dinner, cuddled, talked about everything we were doing, and enjoyed one anothers company.
When my boy looks up at me and calls me "Ma-Ma", my heart melts and I know, without a doubt, I'd do anything for him. When my boy drops what he's doing to come over and give me a kiss, I melt. When my boy has to bring a new "bah" {ball} downstairs every time we go to change out the laundry, I giggle. When my boy points to the tv and says, "puppa" {puppy/101 Dalmatians}, you bet I put on the "puppa" movie. When my boy says "bak, bak" {chicken} while I'm prepping, you guessed it, chicken, for dinner, I beam proudly of his growing vocabulary. When my boy waits at the window for his "Da-Dy" to pull in the driveway, I tear up thinking about the love he has for his Daddy. When my boy finds my cell phone or mug of water and brings it over to me to make sure I know where it is, I admire his concern and care for others. When my boy screams, "Da-dy" and "Nana" all the way through Target, my heart swells with the love he has for his family.
This boy of mind has definitely taken over my heart and at times it hurts. When I'm not around him it hurts. When he's sleeping in the room next to ours, I watch longingly at his monitor for the morning to come so I can squeeze and kiss his cheeks. I take long, savoring sniffs of his hair before I leave for work in the morning to ease the pain of departure.
All this is to say that I wish every day could be like today. Time is going so quickly that I'm attempting to savor every single moment and memory that I can because I know that tomorrow will bring something new. Tomorrow will bring new sweet memories.
So, I will hold on to the memories of today as one of the sweet memories.
