Spending long days at home with boy brings all sorts of thoughts to my mind. There are days when I am reminded that I feel like a better mom when I am working. However, there are days like today, where I yearn to be able to spend every waking moment with my boy.
Today was perfect. Absolutely perfect.
We made pancakes for breakfast, watched 101 Dalmatians, practiced words and read books, drank chocolate milk after taking antibiotics, went up and down the stairs more times than I care to count to do laundry, sorted through 12-18 month clothes to put away, went to target, hung up 2T clothes, vacuumed, made dinner, cuddled, talked about everything we were doing, and enjoyed one anothers company.
When my boy looks up at me and calls me "Ma-Ma", my heart melts and I know, without a doubt, I'd do anything for him. When my boy drops what he's doing to come over and give me a kiss, I melt. When my boy has to bring a new "bah" {ball} downstairs every time we go to change out the laundry, I giggle. When my boy points to the tv and says, "puppa" {puppy/101 Dalmatians}, you bet I put on the "puppa" movie. When my boy says "bak, bak" {chicken} while I'm prepping, you guessed it, chicken, for dinner, I beam proudly of his growing vocabulary. When my boy waits at the window for his "Da-Dy" to pull in the driveway, I tear up thinking about the love he has for his Daddy. When my boy finds my cell phone or mug of water and brings it over to me to make sure I know where it is, I admire his concern and care for others. When my boy screams, "Da-dy" and "Nana" all the way through Target, my heart swells with the love he has for his family.
This boy of mind has definitely taken over my heart and at times it hurts. When I'm not around him it hurts. When he's sleeping in the room next to ours, I watch longingly at his monitor for the morning to come so I can squeeze and kiss his cheeks. I take long, savoring sniffs of his hair before I leave for work in the morning to ease the pain of departure.
All this is to say that I wish every day could be like today. Time is going so quickly that I'm attempting to savor every single moment and memory that I can because I know that tomorrow will bring something new. Tomorrow will bring new sweet memories.
So, I will hold on to the memories of today as one of the sweet memories.

Far too long.
It's been far too long. Far too long.
2015 is going to be a big year. 2015 is going to be the year of Caitlin. When I woke up on New Year's Day, one of the first things I mentioned to Joe was that 2015 is the year I turn 30. I will be 30 this year. 30 years old.
I know it's not old and I don't feel old, but there are so many things I wished and planned to do before I turned 30. The good news? I still have nine months to check all of these things off my list.
So, this year is all about trying new things, reaching beyond my level of comfort and big life changes.
The first journey I have set out upon is not only a change in my physical appearance, but also my health, heart and mind. As I have mentioned before, I love my body. I mean, for heaven's sake, it gave me the greatest gift 18 months ago. I love the changes that have taken over my body as a result of childbirth. The stretch marks that remind me of when baby boy was growing in my belly, the wisps of baby hair that are still returning after losing my hair. However, I also dislike them at times. When I have to use a rubber band to fasten my jeans because they don't fit right anymore, wearing maternity jeans because they're more comfortable on my "pooch", and becoming complacent with my unhealthy postpartum weight. Those things I dislike.
So, this is the year that is all going to change. My family and I have joined the "Commit to Get Fit" challenge that is put on by the City of Liberty's Community Center. This challenge is not only about losing weight, but changing your lifestyle. My family and I have shared our short term and long term goals with one another and are diving in straight into the deep end. I am thrilled to have an accountability team and even more thrilled to have that team be my family.
I look forward to sharing my highs and lows with you as I venture forward on this journey.
I also look forward to sharing this year with you. This is going to be a phenomenal year and I can't wait to see what exciting things lay ahead.
Happy 2015, friends.
